Day 1: Margate to the Isle of W
Left home at 8:30am.
Met David at Ramsgate Harbour and then on to Whitfield (via a detour through a new build estate due to a road closure, thanks KCC!). Met Gary and Tracey at the BP garage.
Went via Alkham Valley, Folkestone, Hythe a bit busy traffic wise then Gary led us via the canal road to Rye and from there onto the Custom Cafe at Bexhill-on-Sea for breakfast.
We met the lovely Wendy of Rambles Photography and Ollie.
After breakfast, a 2hr ride to Southampton to catch the ferry, arrived just in time. And the a 20min ride to Sandown to find my place for the night.
A great day's riding made even better to have a few friends with me.
A full tank lasted me until I got to the edge of Southampton, 4.5 hours riding and on a tank of petrol, pretty good. I did take it easy 😊
Only a few spots of rain for the whole journey, fortunately missed all the downpours - the wetest I got was when waiting to disembark from the ferry the fire extinguisher decided to piss out water all over me and the bike. I rolled the bike back a couple of metres and had a laugh with the passenger in the car next to me.
Finished the day with a meal and a pint at the Driftwood Beach Bar, Sandown and got chatting to a young (125cc) bike rider, who loved the idea. Planting the seed of adventure in young bike riders, get them out and about.
