Day 2 - Isle of Wight
Woke up in the morning to a miserable drizzle, it was supposed to clear by 10am but didn't so I went for a ride anyway, but cold tyres and wet greasy roads aren't a good mix so had to take it easy for a while.
From Sandown, Ventor, Chale (which was particularly foggy and wet and visibility restricted to about 30m not great when you don'tknow the roads) - got followed by percy pig for a couple of miles, clearly checking my details - along the Military Road (a great biking road and my tyres had warmed up at this point 😀) to Freshwater Bay, tried to get to Alum Bay but road closure prevented that from happening.
Some amazing views, unfortunately I didn't stop at all places to take photos.
From there went to Newport, wanted to stop for breakfast but the traffic was busy and I didn't feel like a ‘big town’ so after a bit of riding around decide to head back to the coast and have breakfast in Ryde. I definitely prefer the quieter roads where you can actually enjoy biking and get into that meditative state of mind 🙏💚
Back in Ryde in the evening for the Bike Night. Weather was dry but a bit overcast and windy there were about 75 bikes in total, a real mixture from modern to classics. Good to see the younger crowd and several with L plates showing biking in the IoW is still growing.
I found many car drivers respectful of bikers on the island and fortunately no iffy moments 😊
More photos will be added when I get back home, as I don't seem to be able to add photo galaries using my mobile and I really don't want to fight with technology!
Total mileage so far 263 miles
Tomorrow the plan is to have breakfast at the Sammy Miller Museum, hopefully, i'll get chance to look around before heading down to Paignton, Devon which should be approx 170 miles depending upon the route I end up taking 😀
A big thank you to everyone who has donated £390 raised so far, this is truly amazing 💖
