The O55 Motorcycle Group spawned out of a AgeUK organised motorcycle meet-up which first happend 7th March 2023, three Bikes attended that first meeting, ridden by Andy N, Chris P and myself (Chris M). This triggered the idea that the over 55 biking community needed regularly organised meet ups to get out on the bikes instead of riding alone or, worse still, not riding. Many of the over 55 community have retired, lost partners, lost friends, etc but what brings us together is our love for motorbikes of all kinds.

On 27th March 2023, I set up the O55 Motorcycle Group Facebook group, this rapidly grew into a community of bikers firstly in Kent, then South East England and now expanding to cover the whole of the UK. As at Dec 2023, we now have over 1,600 members.

There are multiple meets ups per week:

• A regular Tuesday Breakfast meetup based near Deal, Kent

• Frequent Bike Nights, Breakfast or Lunchtime meet ups during the season across Kent and neighbouring counties.

• And a Sunday ride-out and meet-up often going further afield, Surrey, Sussex or Essex when the weather is good.

There are also other events supported e.g. Heritage Sprint, Ride of the Ruperts, last rides, rememberance sunday, toy runs, etc.

Whilst the focus of our events/meet-ups/ride-outs at the moment will be Kent/SE England based, we are looking for volunteers to help organise events/meet-ups/ride-outs across the UK.
