Day 4: A Jolly Bike Shop and a not so Jolly Paignton Bike Night
This morning the weather forecast had a cloudy day and sunshine from about 4pm onwards, great stuff, but oh did they get it wrong! More on that later.
In the morning I met a friend in Torquay for a good natter, and then onto picturesque Cockington Village for lunch.
A Facebook acquaintance recommended I pay Chris Sims a visit at Jolly's Bike Shop, Bovey Tracey, so we arranged to meet in the afternoon. Wow, what a great community venue Chris has created. Inside the shop are some awesome custom motorbikes, not for sale, a stunning collection, check out the photos.
There's food, drink, lots of outside seating, regular bike nights and even unicorn ice-cream but only for Chris’ 4 year old daughter, who gets the chocolate all over her hands and face, with a big smile while doing it 😆
I also met a regular Kevin and his wife who'd just been to Plymouth and back on their new 600 v-strom, which seems to be nothing new, Kevin seems to acquire a new bike every few months….
It was whilst at Jolly's when it became clear how wrong this mornings weather forecast was, the heavens opened up for a short time but the rest of the day/night was full of miserable drizzle. Unfortunately that had a adverse impact on Paignton Bike Night, last week there were 500 bikes, this week about 25 and was brought to an early end. However, I met some great people, including Ant who organises the event, a great guy who has organised many events in different parts of the UK, including BMAD.
Many thanks to those who donated this evening, your contributions will be added when i return home 🙏 💚
